The Science of Desire: Decoding the very human system that powers growth
-
MAD//Fest is asking what differentiates brands when technology lowers the cost of creation and distribution while dramatically increasing scale. AI is rapidly changing how brands are surfaced – through systems that rank and recommend brands, often before conscious choice begins. As a result, visibility is easier to achieve, harder to control, and increasingly shaped by algorithmic systems rather than deliberate brand building.
The risk is confusing being surfaced with being wanted – and designing for systems of visibility rather than systems of choice.
The Science of Desire decodes what still moves people: a system as old as human nature itself. One that no optimisation loop can replicate, because it wasn’t optimised for efficiency – it evolved for meaning. By unpacking its three drivers – Attraction, Affinity, and Attachment – this session shows how brands can build desirability deliberately, and how doing so creates a clear, measurable growth advantage: the Havas Delta.

Designing for
the “path of desire”

The best design doesn’t dictate behavior. Inspired by what landscape architects call a “path of desire,” we will explore how brands must support customer needs rather than force people to do what the brand wants.

Beer, Sex & Brand Worlds
-
Every brand today is a challenger brand. Whether you're fighting category restrictions, limited media spend, or the algorithmic gatekeepers of social platforms, the tools of traditional brand building are harder to access than ever before.
For brands in alcohol and sexual wellness, these constraints are amplified, but the lessons are universal. How do you build a brand world that cuts through when you can't always say the words? When you can't rely on paid media? When cultural codes shift by market, by moment, by medium?
This session reveals the strategic frameworks that turn constraint into competitive advantage, and shows how Brand Worlds that Break Boundaries are built:
